Bridj is the world’s first smart transit system which uses big data to adjust to individual commuting needs. Bridj uses big data to predict how a city moves, then deploys dynamic transportation networks to match popular origin and destination pairings with direct service on luxury shuttles. It is a “pop up” bus service, with routes dictated by millions of bits of data that show where people are and where they need to go. Bridj uses machine learning algorithms to get smarter as more users enter the system, allowing for a living, breathing, and thinking transportation system. On average, this saves Bridj users about an hour each day compared with public transit.

Bridj was a WhatWorks urban innovation showcase at the NewCities Summit 2014 in Dallas, Texas and is now part of our Global Urban Innovators Alumni.
