Innovations in Urban Infrastructure Financing

April 19, 2017 — Events

The urban boom is putting incredible pressure on cities to develop new and innovative models to finance urban infrastructure.

On May 9, 2016, we organized a one-day event that convened leading thinkers to discuss innovative financing models in the tech age.

Non-traditional actors including tech companies, architects and community organizations joined the conversation with financial institutions and public sector investors to lay the foundation for new approaches to financing infrastructure projects.

The event also showcased findings from the Handbook on Urban Infrastructure Finance, the culmination of a year-long research initiative by Dr. Julie Kim, Senior Fellow at NewCities. The Handbook addresses the critical challenges global cities face in funding infrastructure.

The event took place in New York City in partnership with Citi. Additional support for the event is provided by Arup.
