Naureen Collings (Kabir)
Special Advisor, NewCities
Formerly the Director of Urban Innovation and Research, Naureen continues to work with NewCities as Special Advisor on a variety of initiatives.
Naureen has extensive experiencing managing pilot projects, research studies and other programs that bring together the public, private, academic and nonprofit sectors to foster innovative urban solutions. She managed NewCities’ projects on Urban E-health with the City of Rio, GE and the State University of Rio; Connected Commuting with Ericsson, Waze, Roadify, University of California Berkeley, and the City of San Jose; and Online & Underground with Ericsson and UITP. She has organized several urban innovation competitions and programs such as the Jakarta Urban Challenge in partnership with Connect4Climate; Omraan with Oasis500; AppMyCity; and WhatWorks. While with NewCities, she led various applied research initiatives, such as the Impact KAEC Fellowship, Financing Urban Infrastructure Initiative, and Connected Mobility Initiative.
Previously, she worked in business development at Google in Silicon Valley. Naureen holds a Master’s degree in International Development and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Naureen obtained her B.A. from Stanford University. She is a citizen of Bangladesh and the United States.
