Google Becomes NewCities Member

We’re excited to announce that Google has joined the NewCities Foundation as a member, supporting our work towards making cities better.

The news comes just before we host a pioneering event on the future of urban mobility at Google’s HQ in Mountain View, California. Entitled Cities on the Move, the cross-sector gathering will explore the multifaceted nature of urban mobility and its impact on our cities. Cities on the Move will take place on March 6.

Our partnership with Google has developed over the years since the New Cities Foundation was set up in 2010. Last year, Google sponsored our AppMyCity! Prize for the world’s best urban mobile app. Carlos Aranha from Google Brazil joined a panel on urban mobility at our 2013 New Cities Summit in São Paulo, and Google’s Charlie Hale inspired audiences at our inaugural Summit in Paris in 2012.

Mathieu Lefevre, Executive Director of the New Cities Foundation, said:

As we strive to build better cities for the future, finding the most creative, citizen-focused technological innovations is a priority. We are excited that our partnership with Google is moving to a new level, strengthening our capacity to find innovative urban solutions. I look forward to coming to Mountain View in March to host Cities on the Move, to spark unprecedented ideas around the future of urban mobility.
