Prior to being elected as Mayor, Sisse Marie Welling has for the past seven years been a member of the Copenhagen City Council. She is the political leader of the Socialist People’s Party in Copenhagen and former spokeswoman on employment, integration, housing and health. She has a Master’s degree in History from the University of Copenhagen, from which she graduated in 2016.
