Every hour of the day, a new headline prompts the need for thoughtful action to protect the lives and livelihoods of people across the globe. And with more than half the world’s population living in cities for the first time in history, the ways to address urgent issues are changing quickly – and more and more being focused at the local and city level. National and regional governments reflect shifting ideologies, and are more frequently changing course abruptly–with disruptive or even devastating effects on the free exchange of ideas, commerce, and people.

Cities are at the heart of the human experience. Because they mix people of various backgrounds, they more often than not offer a stable, sensible, and tolerant worldview. The NewCities Foundation is in the forefront of efforts to help cities become more inclusive, healthy, connected, and vibrant.

Membership in NewCities enables us to fulfill this mission. Members help us promote technology to dispatch medics with GPS-enabled backpacks to assist those living in the favelas of Brazil. They help us reduce traffic fatalities and injuries in Middle Eastern and North African cities through innovative use of crowdsourced data. And provide street addresses to those without them across Asia. Along with multiple other initiatives across the globe.

Your support yields leading-edge research and solutions to problems besetting urban leaders. It allows NewCities to convene the stakeholders who can effect change. And it assures that intelligent, open-minded debate can lead to progress in how people, places, and policies benefit from concerted action.

Please join NewCities to help us move cities forward in improving the lives of urbanites worldwide.
