George P.R. Benson is a resilience thinker and practitioner working on climate displacement, urban planning, and economic resilience. He has worked in Canada and around the world He is a Co-founder of the Climate Displacement Planning Initiative, and sits in various advisory capacity to governments and businesses working on climate action and sustainability. In particular, he supports British Columbia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy as a statutory advisor, as well as serving as a member of the Global Commission on BiodiverCities by 2030, a joint initiative of the President of Columbia and the World Economic Forum. Previously George has served as a member of national and civil society delegations to United Nations and on the boards of both the Canadian and American urban planning association. In 2017, George was honoured with the City of Vancouver’s Mayoral Award of Excellence for his service to the community.
