This Privacy Policy outlines the practices of New Cities Foundation. (”Organization,” “we,” “us” or “our”) with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information collected through the website found at https://newcities.org/ (the “Website”) and the services or resources offered by us through the Website (all of which are collectively referred to as the “Services”). 

The Organization may revise, update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. These changes will be effective once they have been posted to the Website and will apply to all access and continued use of the Website. 

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you on how the Organization collects, processes, discloses, uses or manages your Personal Information, as well as the Personal Information of other former and current users. This Privacy Policy also contains information relating to your privacy rights.

Our Services are targeted to individuals older than 14 years old, and we do not willingly collect Personal Information from minors under 14 years old. If you are under 14 years old, do not use our Services and exit this Website.

  1. Application of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to any Personal Information that you submit to the Organization through the Services, including, but not limiting to, the use of the “newsletter” page, any messages sent via e-mail or by any other means.  It also applies to Personal Information that we collect automatically, as outlined below.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to Personal Information collected by any third-party websites, applications, or services after you you click on a link that results in you to exiting the Website. Be advised that we are not responsible, or liable for the privacy policies, procedures and practices of such external sources, websites, or services.

The Organization collects a variety of Personal Information from you based on your use of the Website. 

This includes information that you provide us, such as:

  2. First Name;
  3. Email address; 
  4. Profession
  5. Organization
  6. Sector
  7. Country

The Organization may also collect some information automatically the moment you start using the Website, some of which may be Personal Information.

  2. Your location, provided through your IP address; 
  3. Your navigation path and interactions with the content on the Website, including but not limited to the keywords you have searched, how frequently you visit the Website, if you clicked on any ads and if you referred from one of our affiliated websites. 

When you visit the Website, your computer’s IP address is recorded, but it is not linked to any personal data. If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address will be kept in the database managed by Mailchimp, in full compliance with Canada’s anti-spam legislation.

Please note that if you provide us with someone else’s Personal Information, you must ensure that you have obtained the consent of this individual, and you warrant to the Organization that you have all necessary authority to do so and have obtained all necessary consent from said individual in order to enable us to collect, use and disclose this Personal Information for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy. 

  1. Donations

The Organization accepts credit card payments on the Website. In the event you make a donation through the Website, we may use third party services to process payments (e.g., payment processors).

We will not store or collect your payment card details. This information is provided directly to our third party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their privacy policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set forth by Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (the “PCI-DSS”), managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure processing of payment information.

 We may also collect Personal Information through cookies (“Cookies”). Cookies are small blocks of data which are installed on a browser or a device during a session, and which remembers preferences or information about you.

The Organization uses the Personal Information collected through the Services in order to provide the Services and to provide any related customer service, such as to offer support or respond to inquiries.

Your Personal Information may be maintained and processed on our servers, [those of our affiliates] [NTD: delete references to affiliates if the Organization does not have affiliates]  or other third-party service providers [(including affiliates)], some of which may be located outside of Canada As a result, Personal Information collected through the Services may be transferred and stored outside Canada and become subject to the laws of such foreign jurisdictions.

We have adopted reasonable security procedures to help protect against loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification to the Personal Information you provide to us.

In some circumstances, we may not be able to provide you with access to your Personal Information or parts of it, and we will let you know in such cases.
