New Urban Champions
A Conference Reimagining the Future of St. Louis
[New tentative date October 28-29 to be confirmed]
As the health of our event participants and local community is our priority, we have decided to postpone the event from April 15-16, 2020 to October 28-29, 2020 (to be confirmed). We continue to monitor the situation very closely and will inform our community of any changes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have provided guidelines and recommended actions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
New Urban Champions: Reimagining the Future of St. Louis will focus on some of the key challenges the city is facing and the innovative solutions they are employing, ranging across crucial topics such as housing and real estate, opportunity zones, social and environmental sustainability, economic development, and talent attraction. We will look at all of these themes through lenses of equity, inclusion, and community participation.
The event will be held in collaboration with local partners from across sectors, such as the St. Louis Development Corporation, the St. Louis Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce, and universities, such as St. Louis University. Mayor Lyda Krewson will also be joining the conference for the opening keynote of the event.
This two-day program will hold a combination of keynote speeches; panel sessions with Q&A; “TEDx style” presentations; interactive workshops; visits to key sites throughout St Louis; networking activities on the following themes:
- mobility and transportation,
- economic development,
- opportunity zones,
- civic engagement,
- attracting and retaining talent,
Free event by invitation only. For sponsorship opportunities or general enquiries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
* New Urban Champions initiative is a NewCities trademark created to showcase the most successful, but less frequently told stories of collaboration, growth, and problem solving happening in cities that deserve a greater share of the spotlight. We want to ensure that these stories are used as opportunities for learning and collaboration.
