Anchor, CBC Montreal News at 6, CBC
Debra Arbec hosts CBC News Montreal at 6. The veteran reporter and anchor has been covering daily news in Montreal for more than 25 years. She started out her career in radio and made the switch to television news just in time for the 1998 Quebec ice storm.
From the anchor desk and in the field, over the last couple of decades, Debra has covered many of the biggest news stories in the province. Here at CBC, that includes the election night shooting at the Parti Quebecois victory rally and the devastating Lac Megantic train disaster.
Throughout her career, she has received several RTDNA journalism awards for reporting and is a proud alumna of Concordia University’s Journalism Department.
When she is not working, Debra is usually walking her dogs – Scooter and Libby – cooking, playing tennis, running marathons.
