Dr. Therese McAllister is the Group Leader and Program Manager of the Community Resilience Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where she conducts research on community resilience with an interdisciplinary team that focuses on the performance and recovery of physical infrastructure systems and how they support and impact social and economic community functions.
Her expertise in structural reliability, failure analysis, and the performance of the built environment has been informed by studies of multiple hazard events, including the structural fire response and collapse of WTC towers for the NIST World Trade Center Investigation, Hurricane Katrina levee performance in New Orleans, and Hurricane Sandy flood effects on infrastructure systems.
