James has over 30 years of experience working on planning and urban design projects around the world, which has provided him with a deep understanding of cities as complex “systems of systems”, whose long-term success requires comprehensive and integrated strategies and approaches that balance the physical development of the built and natural environment, with sustainable economic growth and continual socio-cultural advancement.
James also has significant experience and expertise in organizing and managing complex urban development and redevelopment projects, including work in North America, ANZ, Asia and the Middle East. Recent projects have emphasized the integration of data-informed technologies into the planning and design process, as well as a focus on the emerging fields of “smart” cities and urban resilience.
